China Top OEM Supplier for Elastic Crepe Bandage

What are Crepe Bandages?

Crepe bandages are strong bandages used for medium and long-term bandaging. They’re ideal for providing compression needed to alleviate swelling, securing wound dressings, and supporting strains.

These bandages come in two varying weights to cater to different compression requirements.

Medium Weight

A medium-weight crepe bandage helps as a dressing retention. It’s suitable for keeping a gauze in place, providing light compression, and stemming the bleeding.

Heavy Weight

This crepe bandage offers support for sprains and strains in muscles and joints. It also performs as a moderate compression bandage for ankle swelling, knee swelling, and other associated injuries.

Materials and Manufacturing

The bandage elastic elongation characteristic dramatically differs depending on the different yarn materials used in manufacturing the bandage. Filament yarns offer better elastic elongation than crepe bandages from staple fiber yarns.

Materials used to make crepe bandages are cotton, mixed cotton and rayon,  or mixed cotton and wool.

Product Specifications

  • EconoGuard: Made of natural fiber, has excellent elasticity, is soft and thin, and most economical.
  • XtraGuard: Spandex is the most common option, is made of synthetic fiber, and has excellent durability and elasticity.
  • UltraGuard: Cotton is a soft, breathable, highly absorbable option.

What’s the Difference Between Elastic Bandages and Crepe Bandages?

Crepe bandages provide lower sustained compression than elastic bandages but have increased breathability, comfort, and skin tolerance. They’re made from spandex, cotton, and PBT material and are washable and reusable.

Crepe bandages are ideal for joint swelling, soft tissue fractures, and post-operation. The purpose and function of crepe bandages are to remain in the same place to treat bone fractures and muscle sprains and to hold dressings in place.

How to Wear Crepe Bandage

  • Choose the appropriate crepe bandage size depending on the area of application.
  • Apply on the injured area (To be used under strict guidance from a qualified professional).
  • Confirm that the injured area is well covered.
  • Ensure the bandage isn’t too tight because it might interfere with blood circulation.

How Long Can You Wear a Crepe Bandage?

Experts advise using crepe bandages only 24 to 48 hours after your injury. It helps reduce swelling. You’re also advised to remove the bandage at least twice daily before placing it back.

Should We Remove Crepe Bandages While Sleeping?

The stretchiness and breathability of their cotton material allow for long-lasting comfort throughout the day. However, professionals recommend against using these bandages at night to ensure no blood circulation interference. Removing the patient’s crepe bandage is advisable before they go to sleep.

How Do You Remove Crepe Bandages

Soak a cotton swab or cotton ball in baby oil. If there’s no baby oil, baby shampoo, petroleum jelly, or olive oil are great options. Then, gently rub the oil over the bandage until it loosens and falls off.
